Why The Lab exists

Creating alone is playing on hard mode.

Think about everything a creator has to be good at: writing, design, editing, recording, selling, and keeping up with platforms that change every month. Meanwhile you're competing with media companies whose teams run experiments, share results and get better, fast.

The most valuable information gets shared quickly and privately, while it's still relevant. Jay didn't have a team, or even a group chat of creator friends to share with. So he built one.

The Lab gives you what those teams have, without the cost or complexity: a room of successful, ambitious and generous creators learning together.

“One member helped me think about our primary source of revenue, sponsorships, in a really different way that allowed me to make a better decision on where we wanted to go.”

The Colin & Samir Show

What it's actually like

The questions you can't ask just anyone.

Your friends love you, but they don't know what a fair sponsorship rate is. Inside The Lab, the questions that sound strange anywhere else get answered in hours, by people who've already solved them.

  • Is anyone else seeing reach drop on LinkedIn this month?
  • What do you charge for a dedicated sponsor read at 20K downloads?
  • Has anyone hired a video editor they'd actually recommend?
  • Should I launch with a presale or a waitlist?
  • How are you pricing your first cohort course?
  • Anyone have a good accountant who understands creator income?
  • What's your best-converting lead magnet right now?
  • Would you take this brand deal? The terms feel off.

Experiments

Learn from what members are testing right now

Jen Chapin's experiment post in The Lab, laid out as goal, hypothesis, experiment and results, with other members' experiments behind it

Members share real experiments: the goal, the hypothesis, what they tried and what happened. Wins and failures both.

With hundreds of creators testing at once, you learn what's working now, not months from now.

“What I found most valuable was being able to see 'behind the scenes' of what other creators are actually doing day-to-day... What is working and also what isn't. That helped me make better decisions on how to focus my time.”

Masterminds

A small group that knows your business

A small group of members together at Lab Offline

Form or join a member-led mastermind of 6–10 creators who share your business model and goals.

It's where the deeper conversations happen: real accountability, and the kind of trust that only comes from working closely with the right peers.

“Because of my mastermind, I've received specific and useful feedback from my peers that I've used to make more money in my business.”

Live every week

Office Hours, Hot Seats, workshops and sprints

Learn from Jay, other members and guest experts who are on the front lines of what's working. Bring your problem to a Hot Seat, cowork through a Focus Sprint, or just listen in.

Everything is recorded and lands in your private podcast feed, so time zones don't matter.

“I thought if I could ask questions to people who had been there, done that, it would be worth it for me. And I can safely say that that has been the case.”

Platform spaces

A room for every platform you build on

The Lab's platform spaces, with members answering a LinkedIn question and sharing YouTube data

YouTube, newsletters, podcasts, LinkedIn, Instagram and more, each with its own always-on space. Ask a specific question and get an answer from someone who's solved it.

Years of past conversations are searchable, too. Many members say that alone is worth the membership.

“Simply being able to browse previous conversations is worth the membership price. I dare you to find a more helpful, engaged, and smart creator community.”

FAQ

Questions, answered.

I've been accepted. What happens next?

Enrollment opens on the 1st of every month and stays open through the 5th. When doors open, you'll get an invitation by email with your link to join. You can check where your application stands at any time on your status page.

What times are the live sessions?

Most sessions run between 9am and 3pm ET, many around noon ET (9am PT, 5pm GMT). Everything is recorded and released to a private podcast feed, and we have members in Asia, Australia and New Zealand who've renewed for years.

What if I don't have much time right now?

Every member is busy. The Lab is designed to be a resource, not a task. Use it for inspiration, to get unstuck, or to get feedback on a sales page, and you'll get a lot out of it. The goal is a few high-value insights a year that make the membership pay for itself. (We bet you'll spend more time inside than you think.)

Do you offer monthly or payment plans?

Memberships are annual. We're focused on deep relationships between members, so we look for creators ready to commit for 12 months. If the price feels like a stretch right now, we'd rather you wait than feel stressed by it.

What makes The Lab different from other creator communities?

Most communities are about connection or content. The Lab is about experimentation and growth: you're not just networking, you're seeing what's actually working right now, with real numbers from professional creators.

What kinds of creators are inside?

YouTubers, newsletter writers, podcasters, course creators, community builders, coaches and authors. They're serious about their craft, curious about what works, and generous with what they learn.

How involved is Jay?

Very. Jay hosts Office Hours and Hot Seats, shares monthly Retros, and is in the community every day. But the real magic comes from the members.

What if it isn't for me?

If you don't feel at home inside The Lab in the first 14 days, we'll refund you. No questions asked.
